The Inspiring Journey of Tricia Nambogo
When Tricia joined Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in 2024 on our University Scholarship Program to pursue a Bachelor's in International Business, she arrived with an agenda that went far beyond mere graduation. She went to set a standard. From her very first semester, she set a high bar. Her name has become a staple on the prestigious Vice Chancellor’s List, an honor reserved exclusively for those who achieve and maintain First Class cumulative grade point Average (CGPA).
While many find the transition to university life a challenge, Tricia treated it like a springboard. The Vice Chancellor's List isn't a good job sticker but a formal recognition of the top-tier academic performers across the entire institution, and making it to the list is an achievement. Staying on it consistently since 2024. That is a masterclass in academic discipline. Tricia Nambogo’s milestone serves as a blueprint for fellow students and our own university students. Her success suggests a few golden opportunities for university life.
What makes Tricia a standout is her resilience to books. “Out of 460 peers in my International Business class, I was incredibly excited to be ranked 14th on the list of 25 great achievers. This award is a testament to my commitment, dedication, and the passion I pour into my studies,” she shared.
To those at MUBS, this means she brings academic energy, handles her duties with exceptional strength, and possesses the stamina to keep her grades at the top, even as the course modules grow more challenging. She also prioritises balancing the other life demands and studies with a relentless drive to succeed because maintaining a First Class track record requires more than just intelligence, but a mature mindset to handle responsibilities to enrich the goals.
Tricia adds, “As a girl child, being on the Vice Chancellor's list requires saying no to distractions and forces me to enter the library for revision to chase the opportunities.”
She views this achievement as a strong standpoint that reinforces her position and capabilities in a competitive environment. Tricia believes this academic track record gives her a significant advantage when entering the job market. Even most organizations prioritize performance, often setting a standard of Second Class Upper or First Class requirement for internship placement, so this gives me confidence to acquire one on a silver plate.
She feels that her success serves as a representation for other girls out there, proving that academic excellence is achievable. Tricia aims to inspire other young women by highlighting that academic excellence is both a rewarding achievement and a valuable privilege. “Being recognized among the top performers provides a profound sense of validation and a good feeling that makes my effort worthwhile,” she shared.
Despite her status as an academic giant, she honored Action in Africa as the force behind her success. Tricia noted, “Success comes with support from other hands. I admit that maintaining such a high standard would have been an impossible task without the intervention and support from Action in Africa, especially paying my tuition on time and counseling from Scholarship ladies, which helps me to focus.”
As Tricia continues her journey at MUBS, the sky is truly the limit. With a track record, she isn't just preparing for a career, she is building a legacy, and let us hope she will join other fellows at the Center who graduated fully with first-class honors. Join us in celebrating Tricia Nambogo! A true inspiration to the MUBS community and a reminder that hard work, when paired with a determined lady, always pays off.
