End of Term Quiz Bowl Competition

Last week, the Primary Five AIA Scholars participated in our end-of-term Quiz Bowl. Students from our partner schools and community members across Nakuwadde came to The Center to watch our scholars compete for the prized Center Cup.

The Quiz Bowl is just one of the many activities at The Center designed to help our students enjoy learning beyond the classroom, but they’re not the only ones who enjoy the friendly competition. Parents and local community members get to enjoy the Quiz Bowl too. Events like this create an opportunity for the whole community to come together while helping the students to build a lifelong love of learning, enriching the whole community.

Kirumira Deogratius, attended last week’s competition to cheer on the students and share some words of advice and encouragement as the day’s keynote speaker.

“[These] programs that support our children during the holiday and after school help the youth discover new talents,” said Deogratius. “I’m thankful for all the [opportunities] AIA provides to our students. I’m always encouraging more people to participate.”

The Quiz Bowl questions include material the students learn all semester like math, science, and reading, but also asks them to apply knowledge from history and current events. Over the years, the Quiz Bowl has become one of students’ favorite ways to apply the knowledge they’ve received throughout the year.

At AIA we believe a community filled with eager learners is bound to have leaders. Thank you to our partner schools, Vision Foundation, Little Kings Children Centre, and Step by Step Primary School, and special guest school Bright Way for accepting our invitation. If you’d like to support our work providing opportunities for students to have fun while learning, consider joining our Scholarship Society today.
