Introducing

Action in Africa’s Sentema Campus

A Place to Be, Belong, and Become

Action in Africa envisions a future where entire communities are set up to thrive in all areas of life through greater access to education, creative expression, and physical activity. We have created programs built around the community, driven by research, data, and compassion. Our model proves that when individuals earn opportunities for growth they are more committed to their own success and reinvesting in their community.

Situated on the outskirts of Kampala, Uganda's capital, the Action in Africa Nakuwadde Center has been a cornerstone of community support for the past 10 years.Today, the center has reached full capacity, highlighting an urgent need for campus expansion. After piloting our model for the last decade, we have recently launched an ambitious project that has been our dream in the making for the last three years;

To build our first permanent home and
headquarters in Uganda.

Why is Action in Africa Expanding?

After a decade of transformational success at our Nakuwadde community center, we see a powerful truth: one thriving Ugandan community is not enough.

For us, success is changing lives by providing access to education and meeting basic needs:

  • 1,500 children nurtured daily through our after-school programs.

  • 300+ secondary students supported through life-changing scholarships.

  • 30 university graduate beneficiaries blazing trails for the next generation.

We know that numbers don’t tell the whole story. The heart of our success is found through our local leaders, empowering their communities every day.

Today, Uganda needs us more than ever:

  • Half the population is under the age of 18

  • More than 1/4 of Ugandans don’t have clean drinking water

  • Almost half of Ugandan children drop out of school before they reach their teenage years.

Help us reach our goal and allow us to name a meaningful facility or infrastructure after you.

Namatovu Prossy

aged 14, lives in Sentema. She felt excited as she watched the ground breaking, saying that all the pressure related to her tuition could be relieved. Over the years, she was often sent away from school because of unpaid school fees, or needed to skip school to perform odd jobs in order to help her family make ends meet.

On the day we met her, we discovered her collecting firewood to sell, in spite of it being school hours. She dreams of attending Syllabus Secondary School in Lukwanga.

She said that she prays for Action in Africa’s Sentema programs to begin very soon. Despite her challenges, Prossy said she dreams of becoming a fashion designer, a more financially achievable path than her first choice of becoming a doctor.

Ssebowa Edward

born in 1959, is a neighbor to AIA’s campus and one of the people found on AIA’s land carrying out bricklaying and worked tirelessly in clearing the land.

Firstly, “When I saw this organization I knew electricity was coming and the neighbors shall benefit greatly’’

Secondly, he noted that scholarships for his many children have been confirmed, he revealed that since he dropped out in Primary five due to the absence of support he wouldn't want to see his children drop out at a tender age like him. He noted that jobs in the community shall be available starting from himself. Lastly, he revealed “ I visited your organization in Nakuwadde but you do a very great job thanks a lot for changing lives now sentema we are blessed’’
