Highlights from Our Board of Directors Retreat

We recently wrapped up our annual Board of Directors retreat, and it was two of the most strategic, productive days we've had as an organization in a long time. We wanted to share a recap with all of you, because this retreat is a big part of how we plan for the future, and it wouldn't be possible without the incredible group of people who volunteer their time to guide this organization.

Almost our entire board made the trip to join us in person, a reflection of just how committed this group is to our mission. And even better: nearly all of them also came the night before for a fundraising event we hosted ahead of the retreat, spending their evening helping us build relationships with donors and supporters before a single retreat session had even started.

That kind of dedication doesn't go unnoticed, and it says a lot about the kind of partners we have on our board.

Our US-based staff and board members got to spend some real quality time together outside the conference room, including a group dinner and a night of bowling. Nothing builds camaraderie quite like watching your board chair try to pick up a 7-10 split. It was a great reminder that the people doing this work together also genuinely enjoy each other's company.

Why This Matters

Our board of directors isn't just a governing body, they are some of our most engaged champions. They open doors we couldn't open on our own, introduce us to new donors and partners, and help set the strategic direction that keeps this organization moving forward with clarity and purpose.

Retreats like this one are where that partnership really comes to life, making sure we're building something sustainable for the long term.

To our board: thank you for showing up, for staying engaged, and for believing in this work enough to spend your time and energy helping us move it forward. We're lucky to have you.
