Gloria Nabulime, Education Programs Assistant
Gloria Nabulime is the first alumna of Action in Africa’s scholarship program to return as a full-time staff member, a milestone that reflects the organization’s mission of empowering young people to grow into leaders who uplift their communities.
Her journey with Action in Africa began in Primary Five at St. Johnson Primary School in Nakuwadde, where she joined programs at The Center such as dancing, reading, singing, and drama. These activities helped her build confidence, sharpen her reading skills, and learn how to relate to peers. Supported by AIA’s Secondary Scholarship, Gloria attended St. Edwards College Ggalamba for O-Level and Central College Nakuwadde for A-Level. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Social Administration from Kampala International University in 2023 through AIA’s University Scholarship Program.
Before joining AIA as staff, Gloria gained valuable experience volunteering with Hope for Justice as a Field Social Worker, where she helped reintegrate children into families. In 2023, she returned to Action in Africa as an Education Programs Aide, and in 2025, she was promoted to Youth Programs Assistant.
In her current role, Gloria ensures student safety at The Center, supervises daily activities, tracks attendance across all programs, and coordinates with facilitators and staff to maintain high standards of care. She also oversees equipment management at partner schools, ensuring that AIA-owned resources are well maintained and used responsibly.
Reflecting on her path, Gloria credits AIA’s programs, especially the Holiday Program and the Internship Program, for shaping her public speaking skills, building her confidence, and preparing her for professional life. “If I had not engaged in public speaking and confidence development programs, I could not face kids right now. I would be shy, yet kids are my center of duty,” she shared.
Looking ahead, Gloria aspires to pursue a master’s degree and to create community development programs that will benefit Nakuwadde and beyond.
