How Marolt LLP is Investing in Purpose Through Action in Africa
“It’s good for your business and even better for your soul.”
The Aspen-based CPA firm shows how corporate giving can be personal, powerful, and deeply impactful.
In Aspen, a town brimming with philanthropic energy and entrepreneurial drive, there’s no shortage of causes or campaigns to support. But for Susan and Roger Marolt, the decision to align their family business, Marolt LLP, with Action in Africa came from the heart.
A Family Story That Became a Business Commitment
It all started with their daughters, who traveled to Uganda with Action in Africa during high school and returned forever changed. Their stories, photos, and reflections sparked something in Susan and Roger. Susan eventually joined the board. Roger got involved through events and fundraisers. And soon, their family accounting firm began sponsoring Action in Africa’s initiatives.
From boardrooms in Aspen to classrooms in Nakuwadde, the Marolts turned curiosity into commitment.
“It’s not just about supporting a nonprofit,” Roger said. “It’s about showing the community what we value as a family and as a business. That message matters.”
Making Corporate Giving Personal
Susan and Roger recently made the long journey to Uganda to visit Action in Africa’s community center in person. What they experienced brought their years of involvement full circle.
“The Center was filled with joy, energy, and purpose,” Susan said. “To see firsthand what our support has made possible, it was humbling.”
They participated in meals, student performances, classroom activities, The Center’s 10-year anniversary celebration, and the groundbreaking of Action in Africa’s new campus in Sentema. Roger even found himself dancing in a circle with the kids during a theater program.
“These aren’t people waiting to be helped,” Roger said. “They know what they need. AIA just provides the resources, then they run with them.”
Why Corporate Giving Matters
For Marolt LLP, supporting Action in Africa has gone far beyond writing checks. It’s been about sharing values, setting an example, and building a reputation rooted in impact.
“In a town like Aspen, being connected to Action in Africa signals what kind of people you are and what you care about,” Roger said. “That matters in business, and in life.”
Susan added, “It’s good for your business and even better for your soul.”
Action in Africa’s growth from a grassroots effort in a high school classroom to a thriving community center in Uganda is possible because of people like Susan and Roger, and businesses like Marolt LLP.
