Inside Action in Africa’s Primary Partnership Program
At Action in Africa, sustainable transformation rests on a holistic approach to child development, integrating health, education, and community development. This approach is delivered through our Primary Partnership Program (PPP).
Our PPP has recently expanded to serve five key partner institutions: Little Kings Learning Centre, Strathearn Primary School, Vision Foundation School, Lady Jane Memorial Primary School, and Africa Junior School.
Our comprehensive framework delivers targeted support across multiple dimensions. We drive holistic community development through a wide range of integrated interventions. To support health and focus, we supply partner schools with monthly deliveries of over 100 kg of porridge and soya flour, alongside 10 liters of milk, while providing fresh snacks such as fruit and eggs during visits to The Center.
Beyond nutrition, we work to support personal growth by facilitating creative workshops and competitions in debate, public speaking, and performing arts.
Academically, we empower secondary school candidates through expert-led exam preparation modules, offer full access to our community library, and provide student scholarships paired with dedicated counseling services. To ensure safe, functional learning spaces, we collaborate with partner organizations to install clean water systems, proper sanitation facilities, and fuel-efficient stoves. Finally, we invest in lasting impact by training teachers and administrators in modern teaching methodologies and effective management practices.

I spend most of my time at Action in Africa enjoying the fun energizers led by our facilitators during the creative learning sessions, Arnold and Bernadette. My absolute favorite game is “Farmer's Hen Has Laid an Egg.”
During these sessions, we learn unique skills and topics that our teachers never cover in our regular classroom lessons. Having the opportunity to participate actively has made me feel so happy and confident. To top it all off, we get to enjoy snack time right after, where I get to eat my favorite yummy snack, watermelon. Thanks, Action in Africa, for that safe space.

I am constantly reminded of how deeply the Primary Partnership Program has transformed our daily reality. For many of our students, school is where they receive their only reliable nutrition. The nutritious porridge and creative session snacks do not just curb hunger; they prevent health issues, keep students focused, and directly contribute to better academic results. Parents are relieved of the financial strain of paying for meals or supplying sugar, knowing their children are well cared for with the supplies from Action in Africa.
Inside the classroom, the facilitators’ use of group work and energizers has eliminated boredom and taught our pupils how to solve problems collaboratively. Outside the classroom, the PPP competitions have opened new doors. In the past, we stayed away from external competitions, but joining this network has given our students the exposure, confidence, and teamwork they needed while helping us discover incredible hidden talents. Our candidate class benefits immensely from the PLE sessions, where learning directly from UNEB professionals motivates them and gives them crucial strategies to succeed.
Beyond that, the broader support, such as clean water, dustbins, counseling, book donations through Enjuba connection, and child protection training, makes our school a safer place. On a professional level, the ICT training and creative teaching workshops have empowered our staff to modernize our lessons. This partnership is overwhelmingly transforming our school, and we remain deeply grateful. Thank you, Action in Africa; you came to stay, and indeed you have done your job.

Action in Africa has truly transformed my learning experience. From the PPP program and PLE facilitation to creative learning and, of course, the great snacks like my favorite eggs, I am so grateful.
Through creative sessions, we learn to build confidence and think critically. Just last week, we discussed what Uganda would look like without laws and what changes our country needs. Having a space where we can speak freely and share our own ideas makes a huge difference.
On top of that, the PLE guidance from professionals gave me practical tips that I keep in mind for my exams: keep my work neat, present my answers clearly for the examiners, avoid crossing out work anyhow, and stay relaxed under pressure. Thank you, Action in Africa, for all your support.

All of them excelled in First and Second Grade, with only one student in Third Grade! Your holistic support from scholarships and free library books to teacher training, child protection guidance, and administrator leadership development has reshaped our entire school culture. I express my deepest appreciation for the life-changing impact of the Primary Partnership Program (PPP). If I started listing every blessing you have brought to our school, I could speak all night. Before you came into our lives, my students were constantly battling hunger, often coming to school sleepy because supper at home was uncertain.
I used to buy dry tea to help them push through, but it was expensive and lacked real nutritional value. Today, because of the nutritious milk porridge you provide, our children no longer wander off looking for food. They are healthy, energetic, and ready to learn. You have truly relieved me of a heavy burden.
The reputation of Action in Africa has also elevated our school. Parents actively seek us out and retain their children here simply because we are partnered with you. Your secondary scholarship opportunities give our students in Nakuwadde a real reason to study hard and dream big, knowing that poverty will not automatically stop their education after primary school.
Furthermore, the transformation in our pupils is remarkable. The creative learning sessions have turned once-shy students like Nampala Lillian into confident speakers who stand out. They are proactive, think critically, and demonstrate strong respect for elders.
On top of that, the P.7 PLE workshops led by experienced examiners gave our candidates the exact strategies they needed to excel last year. From spelling bees, free library access, and snacks that brighten the children’s moods, to child protection training, leadership workshops, counseling, and PPP competitions that teach resilience, your impact is everywhere.
Even our infrastructure has been upgraded with an eco-friendly stove, new dustbins, and a massive 10,000-liter water tank replacing our old, rusted metal one to provide clean, safe water.
