Welcoming Our Career Guidance Coordinator
Too often, students face intense pressure from parents or guardians who expect them to follow in their footsteps, accomplish the dreams they could not achieve themselves, or even use tuition fees as leverage to control their choices. Without proper guidance, many scholars transition into higher education completely disconnected from their academic choices and long-term goals. Ignoring job market trends and failing to align degree choices with viable career paths can create a dangerous gap between graduation and meaningful employment.
To address this challenge, Action in Africa provides a crucial support system for both our university scholars and secondary school students. By intervening early, we help younger students build clear career roadmaps before they fall into the same traps as some past graduates. Through unbiased mentorship, we guide scholars through complex family dynamics, empower them to pursue their true passions, and equip them to make informed, market-driven decisions about their futures.
As we celebrate our University Scholarship Program throughout the month of October, we are thrilled to share incredible news and introduce a powerful new resource for our scholars: Faith Juliana Seera, who has officially joined the Action in Africa team.
Faith joined us in September as our Career Guidance Coordinator, stepping into a pivotal role dedicated to clearing the path for our scholars as they navigate secondary school, transition into higher education, and prepare for professional life.
Born in Manafwa District and an alumna of Makerere University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts with Education, Faith brings four years of experience as an educator, mentor, writer, and career development practitioner. She has taught and guided students across central and eastern Uganda, including at Makerere College School, Lwakhakha Secondary School, and Bubulo Secondary School, and has served as an educator with Reach For Uganda. Faith is also the founder of HopeSpring, a mentorship initiative focused on guiding young people through personal, academic, and career milestones.
“Throughout my professional journey, I have remained committed to fostering meaningful relationships, promoting inclusivity, and creating opportunities that enable young people to realize their full potential. Whether mentoring students, facilitating educational programs, designing community initiatives, or writing to inspire change, my mission remains the same: to cultivate a generation that can thrive,” she shared.
In her role at Action in Africa, Faith works directly at the intersection of secondary education and our University Scholarship Program. She coordinates career counseling, educational pathway planning, mentorship, and professional networking to ensure our scholars are not only prepared for university admission but are also equipped to choose disciplines aligned with their unique talents and long-term goals.
Upon joining Action in Africa, Faith stepped straight into action with our current cohort of 23 in-house university scholars. These ambitious young adults are pursuing diverse fields, including Medicine and Surgery, Law, Social Work and Social Administration, Business Administration, Procurement, and ICT, among other professional disciplines.
Seera is fully equipped and ready to walk alongside these scholars throughout their academic journeys. Beyond campus life, her focus is on preparing them for the professional world by actively guiding them toward high-impact internships, traineeships, fellowships, and early-career opportunities. With her mentorship, our university scholars will gain the practical exposure, networks, and confidence needed to transition seamlessly from university into meaningful careers.
Her core belief is that every young person possesses unique potential that, when properly nurtured, can drive social transformation.
