Amber Oberc, UG Project Manager

Amber (amber.oberc@actioninafrica.com) has over fifteen years of operational and project management experience through her work with international public health and community development organizations such as Partners In Health and Tanzanian Children's Fund. She first visited Uganda on a trip to Kampala in 2005, and immediately fell in love with the country and its people.

Amber is passionate about community-led development and is thrilled to be part of an organization led by locals, with programs selected by the community itself. She's particularly attracted to working in east Africa because she's seen first-hand the talent and capacity that is lying dormant due to a lack of opportunity and resources, and knows that even modest (albeit consistent) investments in a community can help unlock that potential.

Amber is excited about getting to know the AIA team in Uganda and learning about the unique skills and experience that each of them brings to their work.  She’s also looking forward to using her love of writing to help bring alive our team’s work in the field.

Outside of AIA, Amber is also helping her husband start a sustainable architecture and building practice in southern Costa Rica, where they recently moved with their 4-year-old mutt, Junie. She's currently enjoying improving her Spanish, exploring hidden beaches, and sampling as many of Costa Rica's exotic fruits as she can find (favorite so far: mamon chino).
