We kicked off the summer with Action in Africa’s very first Ladies Brunch at Aspen Kitchen this past Saturday. Sarah had so much fun talking with everyone about the work we do at AIA, but she especially enjoyed sharing stories about the women and girls we work with and alongside in Uganda. . . . Exactly a week ago, Action in Africa lost one of our students due to a tragic car accident while traveling with his family. Imran was one of the kids in our special needs program and was a crowd favorite at The Center. Whenever he wheeled through Action in Africa’s gates, the AIA staff and students stormed the door to welcome and greet “Mugaaga” (which means “rich man” and was Imran’s preferred nickname). He will forever be remembered for his bright smile and hilarious sense of humor. Imran was filled with such joy and is already so deeply missed. We ask that you please keep his family (especially those still in critical condition) and the Action in Africa staff in your thoughts and prayers during this devastating time. Right now we are taking time to heal but will soon share with you how we will continue Imran Lubega’s legacy at Action in Africa for many years to come. Rest easy, Imran. We love you. Our first medical outreach of 2018 went incredibly well. We had a massive turnout, serving 331 community members and kids! Service offerings included Malaria & HIV testing, anti-fungal & de-worming treatments, and haircuts.
