Evelyn Nabakooza Action in Africa Porridge Chef.

Evelyn Nabakooza, Porridge Chef

Nabakooza first came to AIA in 2015 when one of her children was sick enough that she needed help from the organization. After her daughter recovered, Nabakooza joined the AIA team as Porridge Chef where she cooks porridge daily for after school and holiday programs and oversees the Porridge Program with participating schools in the community. Annually, Nabakooza herself served 80,000 cups of porridge at The Center and at Victorious Primary School, one of our partner schools in the community. Further, she oversaw the distribution of an additional 57,000 cups by other AIA staff and interns at other participating schools in 2019. Beyond the work she does for the Porridge Program, Nabakooza supports the Head Chef and other staff assisting with food preparation and cooking for special events and holidays.

What Nabakooza loves most about working at AIA is the fact that her colleagues are determined leaders in the community and she is passionate about constantly learning new things and creating a better life for her family. Outside of work, Nabakooza enjoys spending time with her children.
